The Met's 2006-2007 season provides a blend of bold new productions with many of the standards of the repertoire that you've come to love. Hear Richard Strauss' Die Ägyptische Helena; Jenufa by Leos Janáček; and a world-premiere production of The First Emperor by the Chinese-American composer Tan Dun! You can also count on the old verities, from I Puritani to Die Zauberflöte, from Madama Butterfly to Rigoletto to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, to name just a few. The 22-broadcast season continues through May 5 and will include 20 live matinee operas. Margaret Juntwait returns for her third season as announcer. Also returning this season will be the ever-popular Metropolitan Opera Quiz.
